Day 5 in Estonia (20/02)

We started the day by going to the school to continue with our projectwork. We worked on our sketches that we need to perform for a video tomorrow . Afterwards we went to a coffeeshop that the students usely go to during the lunch break. There we ate some delicious cookies and yoghurts. After that We returned to the school for lunch. The afternoon was filled with some cool activities. We started by going to the IT company called Mooncascade. One of their employees gave us a tour around the inside of the building and showed their workingprogress. We went back to the school and played a couple matches of petanque. Then we went for a hike in the park where the students told us a little bit more about the history of Tartu. In the evening we wished Louis Ingelbert a happy birthday by celebrating it with pizzas at Saara’s place. Afterwards we went to a bar named baribal where we played pool. A good activity to finish the day!

Day 4 in Estonia (19/02)

It is the third day in Tartu today. After a really nice weekend with our exchange students, we went to their school, the Hugo treffner gymnasium. We started our day with a Latin lesson. A difference between our schoolsystem is that one lesson lasts 75 minutes. We also started with our project work. First we had to complete a glossary in Flemish and Estonian, after that we searched some more things about our ‘online generation’ and how it affects our life. We started working on a sketch about the online generation that we have to perform on wednesday to the whole school. After our brainstorm, we ate lunch at the school together. My exchange student Kati gave us an interesting tour trough the school. In the afternoon we went to the Tähtvere Leisure park where we ice skated. It was very nice and we laughed a lot! Then we all went to a coffee shop and drank some hot drinks to warm up a bit. Now, Kati and I are preparing the house for a little party. It will definitely be a nice ending of the day

Day 2 in Estonia (18/02)

We went hiking with Mariette’s mom in a bog Meenikunno, it’s a hiking area about one hour driving from Tartu. it was a really nice experience! We could enjoy from what the Estonian nature has to offer! It was completely quiet what amazed us. Later we went to one of the students house to eat some traditional food. After that we went to the sauna to relax after a long walk in the snow. We also tried a traditional drink called Kama, it’s made of all sorts of crashed grains mixed with yoghurt, it tastes really weird. After this we all got to the bowling and we hqd lots of fun together. After this we all went home. And that’s when the day ends.

Day 1 in Estonia (17/02)

After a pleasant and for some of us sleepy flight, we arrived at 1 pm local time in Riga. Then we flew from Riga to Tallinn and took the bus to Tartu. We had a safe and enjoyable trip to Tartu. At around 8 pm we met our hosts and had dinner with them. Some of us even went to a concert later that evening. Today, saturday, we met all the exchange students at their school and listened to some presentations about each others country followed by some games to know each other a bit more. Next we had lunch together and visited the national museum of Estonia. The museum showed the history of the average people in Estonia. Their clothes, equipments and life conditions. A guide told us a little bit more about those things. Afterwards we visited the upside down house. It was a really strange but fun experience with hilarious pictures. In the evening we had dinner with our host families and after that we went to Mariette’s place where we all had a really great time.
